Artist Spotlight

Working both in the studio, and outdoors Plein-Air style, Aven enjoys the process of creating art just as much as the outcome. Her fine artwork typically features portraiture, urban scenes, and animals. Oil paint, watercolor, gouache, pencil, and ink are all medias she uses. Her watercolor greeting cards act as an additional artistic outlet to her fine artwork.

For ten years she has steadily grown in her ability and passion as an artist. Her skills were honed while attending a year of Art Foundations at Grant MacEwan, and subsequently completing a degree in Interior Design from Mount Royal University.

As a fourth generation artist, photography, painting, sculpture, and glass work are deeply rooted in the lives of her family. Wanderlust took her grandfather, a wildlife veterinarian, and his family overseas: where for twelve years he studied the spread of animal diseases in East Africa. Desiring a similar experience for his children, Aven's father took their family to live, work and attend school in Dubai for five years. Memories of travels to surrounding continents still continues to inspire Aven. Sourcing some of her work from photographs taken by her father and grandfather during their respective times overseas.
